Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to shelter cats, including administering medications, performing treatments, and handling medical procedures.

• Help with surgical preparations and assist during surgical procedures, including prepping the surgical area, monitoring anesthesia, and providing post-operative care.

• Assist in conducting physical examinations and health evaluations for shelter cats, documenting findings accurately.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the veterinary clinic area, including sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, and ensuring compliance with sanitation protocols.

• Handle and restrain cats during examinations and procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort.

• Monitor the health and behavior of shelter cats, reporting any changes or concerns to the veterinary team.

• Provide support to shelter staff and volunteers in matters related to animal care and health.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter preferred.

• Knowledge of basic veterinary procedures and medical terminology.

• Ability to handle and restrain animals with care and compassion.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.

• Compassionate demeanor and genuine concern for the well-being of animals.
